23 - Upgraded to latest MediaWiki software (v 1.13.1)[1] and cleaned up the SideBar [2]
23 - ROLLED BACK! - SELES.info is back up, but unfortunately we have lost quite a few posts, and some members. Our host, erin azar BlueHost.com, cannot explain it, but somehow the SQL database storing all the SELES.info site data was corrupted in August. The only backup that exists is from April 2008, just before the SELES course this spring. Luckily, the documentation nodes are safe: SELES.info Phuket Real estate still functions as the reference for SELES code building.
However, all the course material will have to be re-entered. Several SELES.info users will have to re-create accounts. I am very sorry about this and we are putting a better back-up system in place. Please email me comments/concerns. Charles

21 - Andrew, Patrick and Charles are starting to plan a 4 day introductory (day 1) / intermediate (day 2&3) / advanced (day 4) SELES course for June 2008.

6 - BC Forest Practices Board has made a DONATION of $250 towards SELES.info. Donations and subscriptions help pay for the hosting and upkeep of the site. Funds over and weight loss pills above upkeep costs are used to proposal software improve the site through tutorial writing and documentation adds. 5 & 8 - Eliot McIntire is giving a 2 day SELES course at Laval University. The goal of this course is to inform people about what SELES can be used for and some basic understanding of building models with SELES.

26 - Andrew has has started tweaking SELES version 3.4. "It already has a number of new features that some of you may appreciate, such as:
- improved error messages (e.g. correct row/col of errors when loading files)
- not crashing if an output file is open (e.g. in Excel). Instead the simulation will simply stop
Now is an opportunity to make requests and to remind me of known bugs to improve the functionality and experience of using SELES. I won't promise that I can incorporate all requests quickly, but if I don't hear from you, I'll assume you like it the way it is (or have given up entirely.... ;-)." 16 - Created an expanded version of "What is SELES?" that links off the Main Page.
15 - Fixed the maps. Added a calendar at Calendar. You can subscribe to this...

29 - I'm shuffling images into the correct directories on the server. This will take about a week. No problems with uploading new images.
22 - Rolled MediaWiki from 1.6.8 to 1.9.3 (a bunch of security patches and some new functionality). In the process I've de-linked our images and turned off our Google Map Extension. I'll need a day or so to fix this... Charles

23 - Fei has been busy adding example models
15 - Added new Forum area which runs using MySQL and phpbb software. phpbb also does mass mailings, so I think we will use that for our newsletter.
15 - Changed the consultant list to a table, with "core competencies" - as suggested by Andrew.
2 - Andrew visiting Charles and working on our first newsletter. Discussed Flash-based introductory movies and tutorials.
1 - Added a new page called Forum for a place for general discussion, comments and requests

28 - Charles extended the tutorial idea and made a Flash presentation. See Tutorial 2.2 Running Value Models (flash). The Flash tutorial was made using the open source software Wink.
27 - Josie and Fei have added a HTML guide on running Value Models to explore the operations they have listed in the Language Reference. You can find a link to this material at the top of the Language Reference page and also in the Tutorials section under Tutorial 2.2 Running Value Models (html).
3 - Josie and Fei have added a new section to Documentation called Language Reference. This is styled after the SPlus user docs. Now you can search for SELES terms and rapidly retrieve parameters.
1 - We're 3 months into this experiment! To date we have four contributors: Andrew, Fei, Josie and Charles, and a few anonymous contributors. Plans? Charles is working to get a first e-newsletter sent out - subscribe here. (CORRECTION: we are now using the Forum for the newsletter.) Andrew is planning to send out an invitation to contribute to SELES.info to the wider SELES community, 1 November 2006? We need some work on tutorials; Charles is experimenting with the Wink movie maker.
